petra: Cartoon of Shakespeare saying, "Read my latest, it is god damn glorious." (Beaton - Shakespeare)

Ben Elton (see: Black Adder) has written a sitcom about Will Shakespeare starring David Mitchell (see: That Mitchell and Webb Look). It plays out pretty much exactly as someone familiar with Black Adder's comedic stylings and Mitchell's self-deprecation would expect, at least through the first three episodes.

To my eye, the Shakespeare-Marlowe relationship would make more sense if Marlowe were more overtly seducing everyone around him, not just the ladies. Perhaps that will show up later. It's not as though Bisexual Rake would be out of bounds for the farcical British sitcom--a little more succesful than Lieutenant Gruber, a little more WOOF at Everyone than Flash, and Bob's your word David Mitchell doesn't have to say a zillion times once a series because, to be frank, he doesn't have Rowan Atkinson's plosive /b/ problem and it's just not funny when he does it.

Also, I like their read on Anne Hathaway.
