Anne McCaffrey syndrome

There needs to be a good law, akin to Sturgeon's Revelation, about the propensity for an author who has written more than one story in a given setting to keep returning to that setting. If there is one, it ought to be applied to me, as my brain seems hell-bent on getting yet one more pairing (and I use the term in the universe-specific sense, here) into How to Marry a Millionaire.

Bells and whistles

As all readers of Nightwing #90-100 know, Batman has an alarm set to go off whenever Dick gets too close to a justice of the peace.

Astute readers of Joe Kelly's Superboy run might well conclude that he also has an alarm cued to go off whenever Kon-El enters Gotham airspace, and another one for any time the clone touches Batgirl or Robin.

If he's paying attention, he's also got a subtler alarm for any point at which Superman takes it upon himself to lay a hand on any of the clan.

It's not quite clear when the danger bell went off regarding Dick and Babs' relationship, but it must have been in time to get adoption papers drawn up, which one probably can't do at the drop of a cowl.
