Ever tell anybody, 'Actually, it's eggplant'? (1)

Good. Don't.

Te has warped my conversations. The words "corn syrup" now mean something wholly other than what they ought to. (2)

I have been known, on occasion, to say, "Dude! I am totally a mystery!" but I suspect that's obscure. (3)

The word "torso" will make me stop giggling sometime after never. (4)

I knew what 'fascinating' meant before I started abusing it regularly, but now it is firmly cemented in my brain. (5)

I don't even want to think about the D. H. Lawrence that occurs in my head, but even reading Fanny Hill didn't make machinery mean that. (6)

Let's blame Mary for a few things -- one should never describe an actual person as "the size of a small cat," but I have done that, too.

And the word partners -- forever sullied as well.

(I am not going to mention my fangirl French acquired back in Les Misérables fandom; it's less embarrassing, really, than phrases that come out of my mouth that can only be traced back to porn.)

How about you? What linguistic tics and goofy catchphrases have you picked up from your time in fandoms?
