Richard Sharpe on tape
Sep. 14th, 2006 05:54 pmI haven't had much time to read lately, so I started listening to Bernard Cornwell in the middle of the series, on tape, in the car.
Is his prose better on the page? I feel like I should have a drinking game for the phrase "huge Irishman" wrt Patrick Harper, but I'd run out of any amount within a chapter.
And, considering that I'm listening while driving, I'd get pulled over.
It might make it easier to take, though.
Other things fandom has programmed me to hate are epithets -- "the rifle captain" makes me wonder if there's another one in the room other than Our Hero -- and "the fair hair" instead of "her fair hair." It's only special because it's hers, Mr. Cornwell.
Other than that, my, but there's an OTP to be had here.
