Fannish Migration Patterns
Dec. 28th, 2006 10:26 pmWe (
holli and
petronelle) were wondering about whether there are patterns in fans' movements from fandom to fandom, particularly whether history in one fandom means one is more likely to join another. We aren't going to theorize about why that might be; social issues, availability, and time management may play larger roles than the narrative possibilities of any particular fandom.
To make a start, though, we've made a poll. We have included only fandoms based on Western source materials (for anime or manga ones, we're sorry, we don't know enough about these to be at all specific; please just check anime/manga. ETA: Yes, we know that this is an overly broad category.). We have tried, lacking objective measures of demographics, to pick fandoms that are large or have been large in the past. If your beloved non-anime or manga, not subsumed under the category of 'Rare Lit Slash' source material did not get mentioned, please let us know in the comments.
Any and all other comments are most welcome.
( Take the poll and get your friends to do it, too )
