derryderrydown is at fault for the fact that much of Harvard Square was treated to bits of a conversation regarding non-reciprocated soulbonds today.
I don't know what
thatyourefuse considers the best of the lot, but I am thoroughly fond of the soulmate's name written on wrist AU of Aubrey-Maturin wherein Jack's wrist says something barely discernible as "Esteban M-squiggle y Something-or-other." Stephen naturally discovers this straightaway, whatever the universe's strictures on privacy are, and assumes that Jack makes the connection as well.
Jack does not, in fact, make the connection, until at least the timeline round about the third book, whereupon he is brought by the lee.
(For Stephen's part, the name on his wrist is Diana [indecipherable]; he has quite abandoned all hope of locating her when he meets Jack, and reckons that half a bond is better than none.)
