Lady cops & macarons
Jul. 15th, 2011 05:38 pmScott & Bailey is a BBC ITV procedural for people who need lots of women in their procedurals, including writing and directing the episodes. Click the link there for a picspam that will explain why you might care.
My ears perked up at Suranne Jones as one of the titular female buddycops, and then someone said, "And Amelia Bullmore is their boss," and I was sold.
Two episodes in, I have f/f slash dancing in my brain and I am pleased. If it wasn't dancing to Bad Romance, I'd be even more pleased. Yes, Lesley Sharp is lovely and her character is lovely, but I have patterns, okay? Mentor/student in all its iterations makes me a happy Petra, and this is a show for me.

Synchronicity being what it is, I ran into it on a day of Much Baking, and also the day when I hit the episode of Corner Gas where Karen the cop cooks in secret, afraid that if anyone knows it will ruin her professional demeanor. Mind, Corner Gas is ridiculous, so that's just before the episode where she runs around town with a hacky sack all episode, not one tiny bit worried about her complete lack of professional demeanor.

Some of my second batch of macarons ever are the right texture, i. e. not cracked like a snickerdoodle. I think it's because I stirred even more, and because I rapped the heck out of the pan.
