The reds that have been most beautiful to me lately have been the roses that have gone wild in the local park -- not bright reds, not classic roses, but the pinks and pink-kissed and fuchsias that result when carefully cultivated roses are neglected and the vibrant force underneath gets to take over. They smell red in my brain because "Roses are red," as we all know.
